    I was having the exact same issue / error message. My problem ended up being that when I added a column to the table for my link, I forgot to expand the Data Source Range to include an additional column (from A1:K to A1:L). After that, I was having trouble getting the link to open in the same page, so I ended up having to add target="_blank" to the template as well. Another thing to check would be if the column has link formatting (Google adds it by default)... I would just remove it altogether in favor of plain text.
