I appreciate the commitment to transparency and full disclosure displayed in articles like this one.

However, the permissions being requested seem to have changed since it was written. Upon first signing in to Awesome Table, this is the permission request I was shown:

Which feels significantly more invasive, for the spreadsheet permissions.

Perhaps this is simply a Google change to increase the clarity of their own messages, and "edit, create, and delete" were all previously implied by "manage"? Regardless, as the text here seems to indicate that Awesome Table only requires view rights to user spreadsheets, is it not possible to request read-only access, rather than the user having to grant full control over their spreadsheets just to get in the door?

    Thanks.

    Hi @Frank.

Rest assured that only the description was changed / reworded (by Google). But the Awesome Table authorization scopes (permissions) remains the same.

As for: is it not possible to request read-only access, rather than the user having to grant full control over their spreadsheets just to get in the door?

The minimum required sharing-settings for your Awesome Table view to be accessed by your audience without logging in is via:

    > Anyone with the link (View mode only) - so we can only view, but not change or share your GSheets file.

Alternatively, you can select a different sharing option depending on your needs.

Thanks also for pointing out the discrepancy on the permission-screenshot. We'll take care of this ASAP.
