Use the Files Cabinet add-on to effortlessly update your datasource and view.
In the previous tutorial, you learned how to run the Files Cabinet add-on to create a dynamic view of your target folder’s contents. Now, you will learn how to update or refresh the same datasource.
Let’s say you or members of your team* added (or deleted) files from your specified Files Cabinet folder (or subfolder). How will you display the updated contents to your view or website? With the Files Cabinet add-on, updating your datasource and view is quick and easy.
1.) To update your Files Cabinet within Google Sheets, select Add-ons > Files Cabinet by Awesome Table > Start Listing.
2.) Click the Update list of files button (image below).
3.) Click the Open button to see your updated view (this will open the same view generated earlier in Step 7 in the previous tutorial).
* Note that there are now 29 files.
Note: For now, Files Cabinet needs to be manually triggered by pressing the Update list of files button via the add-on's sidebar to update the specified directory.* Automatic updates on the datasource (periodically and / or each time files are added or deleted) is not yet possible, but those functionalities are part of our development roadmap.
You’ve just learned how to use the Files Cabinet add-on to:
- display Google Drive contents and how to
- update your datasource and view with just 1 click of a button.
